The VHB - Beethoven's Fifth Street Symphony

The VHB - Beethoven's Fifth Street Symphony - Vintertainment Records - 1984

Great Electro cover version of Beethoven's Symphony No 5. Who would have thought this would work.

Can someone please tell me what VHB stands for?

The Future - Nuclear Holocaust

The Future - Nuclear Holocaust - Mirage Records - 1984

I must thank Sean P from Reckless Records for putting me onto this record.

I never heard of this record in 1984 in fact it was not until 1988/89 while chatting to Sean he was kind enough to tell me about it and said it was well worth looking out for. I searched high and low to find this record after talking to Sean. But it was worth all the effort.

You must remember looking for this record 7 years before ebay was invented made it extremely hard to find.

Produced by the legend Michael Johnson from the Jonzun Crew.

I picked this copy up in New York

Rammelzee Vs. K-Rob - Beat Bop

Rammelzee Vs. K-Rob - Beat Bop Profile Records - 1983

Every time I hear this record I am taken back to the very early 1980's when Style Wars first appeared on British TV. This track was featured in the film and although disliked by many I grew to love it. Roll on ten years and Cypress Hill brought back this once forgotten style and delivery, however this time it appealed to the masses. Beat Bop was without doubt ahead of its time.

Real Roxanne & Hitman Howie Tee Bang Zoom!

Real Roxanne & Hitman Howie Tee - Bang Zoom! - Select Records - 1986

Purists may say this is not in there record collection, but lets face it, in 1986 this was massive and contained some classic scratches.

Paul Hardcastle - Rain Forest

Paul Hardcastle - Rain Forest - Profile Records - 1984

Just simply slept on!

Pure Classic both sides

Run-D.M.C. - Hollis Crew

Really great record, as far as I understand this was never officially released on 12" and stayed as Promo only.

Twilight 22 - Electric Kingdom

Twilight 22 - Electric Kingdom - Vanguard Records - 1983

Such a great record.

I prefer this version as it has four mixes rather than the version with only two mixes.

Pumpkin And The Profile All-Stars - Here Comes That Beat!

Pumpkin And The Profile All-Stars - Here Comes That Beat! - Profile Records - 1984

Pumpkin & The Profile All Stars, what a combination!

What's interesting is (Greg G) went on to re-use the line

"The Scratch The Bass The Congas In Your Face" 2 years later on the Disco Four's track Get Busy.

Grandmaster Flash - Flash It To The Beat - Live!

Grandmaster Flash - Flash It To The Beat - Live! - Bozo Meko Records - 1982

Flash to the Beat on Sugar Hill Records done nothing for me.

This is the essence right here.
Also comes with the dope Fusion Beats on side two.

The first copy I ever found was on green Bozo Meko and I have stuck with it all these years although Its seems a blue label version was the first press.

The Egyptian Lover - Egypt Egypt

The Egyptian Lover - Egypt Egypt - Freak Beat Records - 1984

At one point I owned at least 4 if not 5 types of the Freak Beat label variants of this record, which I collected over the years.

I remember one with a small label stamper ring, one with a large label stamper ring, one with 2 label stamper rings, one with manufacture details and one without manufacture details and one with and without the Uncle Jamms Army Credit.

I chose to the keep the copy in the most pristine condition however, it may not be the very first press, but I gave up trying to work out which was actually the first press.

Imperial Brothers - We Come To Rock

Imperial Brothers - We Come To Rock - Cutting Records - 1984

In my top ten Hip Hop Electro records of all time.

Featuring 4 Great Mc's that never get a mention.

OG Rock, Mr Ice, Mark Ski, Soul Supreme.

One of the best looking labels
Original Saw Blade Sleeve still in open shrink wrap

The Cold Crush Brothers - Fresh, Wild, Fly And Bold

The Cold Crush Brothers - Fresh, Wild, Fly And Bold - Tuff City Records - 1984

Big tune; however, I am not the biggest fan of this record I know others that rate it higher than me. I believe this is the first press on the Tuff City label with the white associated Profile sleeve rather than the Profile label and red Profile sleeve.

CSL And The Boys Next Door - New York Breakdown
